Nice belt and buckle, any chance of pics of the buckle?
In ref to the hooks on the belt the two hooks on the lightweight/walking out belt do not need to take any weight so they can be made not as strong, as you are now probably aware the hooks on the combat belt have to be much stronger to withstand the rigors of combat and the weight of the equipment

Yes, I was just confirming that.
The buckle is nothing special, unmarked Heer pebbled with a fair amount of wear.
Great exposé Ben! I wish I was disciplined enough to specialise in one field such as this - collecting equipment and helmets sure takes up a heap more space!
Cheers, Dan

Could someone explain to a layman like myself what the difference between the smooth and pebbled front is? Basically, why do some have smooth and the others pebbled? By manufacturer or is it aluminum vs steel? (I feel like this might be a dumb question but hey, gotta start somewhere)
Is it common to find a steel buckle that is unmarked with a leather tab that is marked?? Is the maker's mark on the tab the maker of the buckle or just the leather tab?
Hello and welcome to the forum. In answer to your question it really depends on the maker, Gustav Brehmer has maker marked buckles and tabs, unmarked buckles and maker marked tabs, so not a question of common but maker dependant. Hope that makes sense?
Ben
Thanks for having me..... The tab on my buckle is H ARLD 1940 NUERNBERG in an oval. Is this a common maker ? Is this the buckle maker or just the leather tab maker???
