In this case, Ben is likely that the probe might have been made by dozens (party) , later rejected , did not pass strength tests and decided vsetaki to do of metal. The Germans are a people fisted, war, economy, etc ...With respect !

Again we see this buckle. And again it is said it is from bakelite.
Yes, it is a bakelite look-a-like material. But.....
This buckle however was made from Trolitul, which was phrased
as "thermoplastische Spitzgussmasse". As far as I know it was
a product invented by the concern Venditor Kunststoffgesellschaft
mbh from Troisdorf. They held the patent for the material.

As far as I know it came into being in late 1940 or early 1941.
I think the product was rejected. Maybe while it could not held
the weight for the army equipment. The bar, to hold the catch,
    did break easily!

The buckle that started this thread belongs to a good friend. This one is a mint example that showed up in southern Colorado about fifteen years ago. It was in mint condition but in hand you could tell it would not hold up to heavy use. It has to be the rarest Heer buckles and one of the rarest Third Reich buckles. It sold to a European collector for $5000. I wonder what it might go for in todays market?
