Assmann HJ Buckle stamped in odd place, original?

Hi gents,
I have this HJ buckle marked "A&S" with the logo, "ges.gesch." and "RZM 17". The Assmann buckles I have seen in the threads have the markings on the catch side of the buckles inside. This one has the markings done on the prongs side. Is this an original buckle or a fake? Compared to other buckles I think the eagles head seems odd?

I'd appreciate any comments.

Hello Jerek. You are heading in the right direction.
This buckle is not original.

But it does exist Assmann buckles with the maker mark under the prong bar.
But that is a nickel buckle and totally different.

The one you show is not from any German Third Reich factory.

As stated a fake buckle, the eagle is not an Assmann eagle, the markings under the prong bar were on the earlier nickel ones not the later steel ones. As Jeff stated various markings for the original buckles
