Nice worn buckle from a seldom seen maker. A early marking, I had a HJ from this company and it was Marked RZM M4/3. Here is a converted buckle like yours.

I’ve seen this done before, very nice buckle! Do you happen to know the history of why the modifications were made? Wartime shortages?
All HJ and DJ had to wear the HJ buckle as of a certain date.
