A39 Luftwaffe Belt Buckle GI Bring-Back

This was one of the many items from a local estate. Four helmets (3 posted in this forum), 2 K98 bayonets, WWI officer's sword (poor condition), US patches, one WWII German patch, US Ike jackets, other items and this Luftwaffe buckle. I wanted to share this buckle and get your thoughts. Does the A39 indicate the date? Is "A" the maker's mark? Thanks.
