you should know that there are in fact 4 versions of the Flächentarnsturmgepäck ....
and the very first model has laces that close the internal parts (late 50's - early 60's).
The model shown is the second model.
The third model has Dederon closing tabs
and the last model is the one presented with an identification tag on the front.

I had never heard of the nylon fabric named after the GDR.
I am still not sure of this material's appearance in applications like this.
It would be very interesting to see examples.
East Germany certainly had some interesting fabrics used in their military gear.

Nylon is a fiber invented in the USA and found in many applications ... I think for patent reasons, it is named Perlon in BRD and Dederon in DDR (noted that ... D e D e R on) .It is found in many military objects: uniforms, belts, Y-Riemen ...
