Hmm, maybe as long as he had a cherry picker to stand on or err.. a camera boom on a film set
Because he would otherwise have to be in a building and depending on the exact date (a small time frame when this type of event took place) all buildings that close to the demarcation line had all windows etc that overlooked the line bricked up to stop people jumping into the West
The pictuire is still a great illustration though.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
One man who was not so lucky when trying to escape to the West was 18 year-old Peter Fechter. He made his bid for freedom along with his friend, close to Checkpoint Charlie on 17th August 1962. His friend succeeded, but Peter was shot in the hip without any warning being given. He fell back into the 'death strip', and over the next hour he slowly blead to death.
Somber fate.
I remenber when we visited Berlin in 2004, there was a memorial with many crosses representing all the "Mauer" victims.
