I really think that you should leave it as it is. Cleaning can certainly damage that badge, I would not recommend you to do that.

Get yourself a jeweller's loupe available on eBay and elsewhere really does help when looking at maker's marks. Cheers, Mark
Yes, I meant on that mark, and actually it should be looking like that. It is number 4, but maybe it is not that clear and certainly it is not that large like some other marks, from some other makers, which you can find on those wound badges.
