Article about: I just purchased this no 65 marked wound badge at a local gun show. Purchased as a silver but when photographed I now wonder if this is silver or a washed out gold wound badge. Joe

    Silver for me.

    Agreed, toned silver. 9 times out of 10 if it were gold the pin and hinge would still have some or nearly all the finish left, this doesn't.

    Thank you - I looked and I agree too. The camera must have picked up some yellow color from the lighting.

    I believe it's the frosting or 'silver' coating - similar to
    the frosting we see on Iron Crosses - that has
    simply aged somewhat.........
