I would like some thoughts on this German wound badge. I got this from a family member of a WW2 Vet , who brought it back from ETO. It has a maker code/ mark “107” in a circle. I believe it is a Carl Wild /Hamburg, I believe this may be a zinc alloy with a bit of silver wash. Would this be a black badge or silver?
Any thoughts as to authenticity etc. Would be greatly appreciated.

I’m a little confused. I realize that Verwundetenabzeichen is in silver, but by meaning this, is the medal just painted silver? Or it is Sterling Silver? But it is mainly black with a bit of a silver wash. How can you tell? If anyone could elaborate in telling the difference, it would be greatly appreciated.

The medal is made from zinc, with a silver finish, (not paint).
    Here is mine to compare.

So it looks like a lot of the silver finish has worn off.

Over time, any award made of zinc will absord most, if not all of the finish, whether silver or gold
