Do I mean the paintwork is painted in the back?
All the best and Happy New Year ..............2022..........
Hi Mate,
Despite the less than stellar photos, I am going to stick my neck out and say that this is an original, though very worn Otto Schickle design badge. If you look closely at the sword cross guards you will notice a die flaw on both that almost looks like misalignment. This is a trait of these badges, and will be seen clearly in the following link:
Wehrmacht-Awards.com Militaria Forums
I have a gold and silver example of this particular design in the collection and the flaw is clearly discernible when viewed through a loupe.
As for the badge you show, black, silver, gold, take your pick! What I see is tarnished brass base metal with a few polished highlights.
Regards
Brett
Hello, I thank you for the detailed report and the information .............
But I'm going to assume that it is a polished piece of brass. in the version black and not gold .........
