The fact that it sold, doesn't mean it was real. The combination of a hollow 1939 badge with a soldered on backplate should have been an enormous red flag to start with. There are chaos pattern fake variations available with the backplate. These will be found in all grades. Several threads on these and hollow golds will be found on this Forum if you choose to look. I'm not going to open the hollow silver/gold can of worms. There are a few very convincing examples around, and sometimes it might pay to keep an open mind on these.
