    Looks like an authentic badge, albeit heavily worn. The maker’s mark is a nice bonus.

    "heavily worn" for sure, but it seems rare? Maybe because of this it is worth buying this badge. Or maybe I'm wrong and it's not uncommon.

    Hi, L/53 indicates Hymmen & Co and i agree with B.B, it looks like a good badge.

    Zoomed in on the pictures. It’s definitely a 3. Considering marked black badges are considerably less common than unmarked ones, you’d do well with this. Some like them in mint condition, but I’ve always liked the look of the early brass ones when they have a lot of wear and tear.

    As far as I know, L/52's are not marked in this manner. It is most likely an L/53.
    Same hardware as well.
