Thats the easiest way to detect a fake, also and any signs of casting remains or bubbles in the surface, as TR badges where stamped not cast.
I'd suggest looking at older treads regarding these, or any badge you might be looking for.
This will show you what to look for and what to avoid, and if possible post it here before buying.
