Here is another item from my Schickle Collection.

It's a wound badge in silver but as you can see, the majority of the silver finish has vanished or been removed. There are small pieces on the swastika, wreath and pebbles. Never mind though, it's still a nice and early badge made of tombac.

    Cheers

    A nice example Jamie!
For my own understanding, what defines this one as being made by Schickle?

My first guess would be the style of catch, we'll see.

Yes the catch is undoubtedly a good starter. Same as many other Schickle awards like the KvK1 and EK1.

I’ve been informed that it is the hardware setup as a whole which sets it out as Schickle. The die pattern also is recognised as that maker.

Of course, after 1941, Schickle items pop up being sold by Mayer (L/18) and Forster & Barth (L/21) as those companies took on all the leftover stock.

    Hope that helps.

    I almost forgot about this...

The only Gold VWA I possess is a tombac one issued by Forster & Barth (L/21).

It has F&B hinge and pin but a Schickle hook/catch.

And comparing the front of the two badges I find that they came from the same die. So just an example of a leftover Schickle badge being used by one of the companies that took the remaining stock (the other being BH Mayer L/18)
