It looks original to me but, it's had a hard life.

I agree. A good thing though is that there seems to be no sign of the horrible zinc oxide we all know so well!
The scratches on the reverse look quite deliberate as if someone was trying to see what the base metal is (maybe he thought it might be a precious metal?) and I think I see signs of the catch having been repaired. Hard to tell from that angle but I think I can see blobs of a solder repair?

I checked it closely and wasn't able to find any sign of zinc oxide on the surface. It had a rough life that's for sure. When I received the PKA the scratches were already on it. I assume that the catch was repaired by the owner.
