This is a badge I bought from a listing in the WAF last year from a collector in England; it was relatively inexpensive due to its obviously missing catch. These are the photos from the listing; "in person" it looks the same. I'd previously shown them on another forum where I got the opinion "Your PAB appears to be what is known as the 'Unmarked Frank & Reif'." I'd like to know if anyone here agrees as to both its authenticity and attribution; any comments would be most welcome!

I would agree with this assessment. Here are two that are both marked, but you can compare the obverse & reverse details to your own.

The initial assessment is correct mate. Unmarked solid F&R in bronze, shame about the missing catch but it displays well I'm sure.

Ralph, really nice couple of marked examples you've got there, thanks for showing 'em!

Thanks for the replies - Yes, it does look a LOT like the bronze above on the right; wonder why they marked some, but not others? Maybe as molds wore out and were replaced, they just didn't bother?

Or perhaps there was no requirement for early badges to be marked and the makers names were added a couple of years into production?

    I agree.
Should have an EK II in there to add some color though.

    Ralph,

I agree! An EKII will always add that "little spritz" to any display!

Actually, I not only agree completely, but am already ahead of you both - this photo is by now several years old, and when I finally broke down and acquired a TR EK I two or three years ago (I already had an Imperial one) it was added in the space held here by the Verwundabscichen im silber, which was "bumped" just above the three badges!
