Hello,

The ISA you show is attributed to the firm of Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid.
Deumer produced hollow examples in both Tombak and Zinc base material.

The example you have is a silver grade and it's made of zinc...The zinc examples needed a base plate to attach both the hinge and catch.
Notice the large rectangular plate under the hinge and the circular catch plate.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "what is the brown variant"?

If, when you say brown, you are referring to a Bronze grade, here is my zinc Deumer ISA in bronze.

Thanks for posting these lovely examples gentlemen. I have two Deumer ISA's in my collection a Tombak and a solid zinc, but I don't have a hollow zinc variant.
