A very nice example, congrats on your latest acquisition..
These early tombak examples are quality badges and yours looks to be in great condition.
Various makers have been associated with this one including the BH Mayer / O. Schickle connection you mention. The Pforzheim makers are just as confusing and intertwined as the Gablonz makers are.
As you know the BH Mayer link comes from the rare pin marked L/18 examples. The Schickle link comes from an original catalog showing images of IAB's having very similar characteristics as this one does. Zimmermann has also been mentioned as well.
