Hello Bob,

This example is a fake based off of O. Schickle/BH Meyer variant.

These are well made and have fooled collectors for years.
If I'm not mistaken they first started showing up in the UK and reenactor sites have also carried them.

Here is a bronze fake and an original I have to compare.

Notice the following attributes that differ from the original.

The head-sculpt of the fake has been referred to as Dove like when compared to the Eagle of the original.
The Breast feathers are different with the fake being more elongated and pronounced.
The Kar98 details on the fake are soft when compared to the original.
The fake bayonet is more like a butter knife.
Also the cross hatch on the fake acorns are like the pound sign "#" in shape instead of a diamond pattern.
