I don't remember seeing one with that tool mark above the hinge before.

i am not so much worried about the tool mark. I would think that when they put that medal together by hand in the machine that such things could happen. Maybe a Monday piece lol...
Weren't these stamped, or struck as some like to say, rather than cast? The M.K.1. look like a casting to me and not something that was stamped into the metal with a machine or by hand. Dwight

Unfortunately, this one is a fake.
Here is another one to compare.
Notice the circled flaws on the reverse replicate exactly in the same position as yours.
Also, the tool mark above the hinge, the hinge and catch bases are soldered on instead of part of the reverse mold and the yellowish-gold colored finish.
