It's an authentic small font, fluted pin, round wire catch type 1.4.5. CCC in bronze.

    Hi Joe,

What are your concerns regarding this clasp? I've looked at it again and can't see any red flags other than possibly the four blobs of metal/solder that hold the plate in, and tbh I think they can vary a fair amount from clasp to clasp anyway.

    Regards, Ned.

O.K,please give me your money. You would spend your money for nothing.....for a "Gurke",when you add this clasp in your collection.

For sure a very dangerous copy. When you have the book from Tom Durante guys, you can also see this fake on page 280/281.

    Kradmelder,

Thank you for your feedback. I haven't bought this badge as of yet but am interested in bidding on it in an upcoming auction. The red arrows that you put on the photo....are those pointing out what appears to be a small wire thread on the left side by the base of the "C" latch? And on the right is the arrow pointing to what appears to be a wire thread coming through the badge from the front side?

Not threads but dies flaws which are part of the Spange.

I'm not that clued up on these awards but what Joachim is pointing out are things that would indicate this is a fake ie; these flaws are found on fake awards, not originals.

Tom Durante has written a book on the Nahkampfspange and has identified these as a red flag.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

    Thanks Adrian,

Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of Tom Durante's book. Badges and medals are fairly new to me so I'll have to rely on the members opinions on whether this is a good clasp or not. But I'm sure learning a lot on this forum.
