Hello, please help with this buckle
The buckle looks good but I don't recall a NSBO with no ears. Do they look like they have been bent upwards?
kirby thanks for the help
yes have been bent
The lack of ears threw me, but it does look like a good buckle.
Gunny Hartmann спасибо за помощь
I think that this is a quite interesting NSBO buckle, insofar as the roundel by the exact design and exact needs to be emphasised, is in my opinion somewhat uncommon. This exact roundel is encountered on differing styles of boxes which support a variety of pins, pin shrouds and claws. There would appear to be no consistency in the construction per se and which perhaps suggests that the buckle was a product of the so called "cottage industries". I have seen this exact roundel on a "cannibalised" brass box (the shadow of the original roundel still being visible) and so in theory, an earless box is quite possible. I note however that it has been confirmed that this splendid buckle once had ears which have now been straightened.
In my opinion, a slightly unusual and quite interesting NSBO buckle.
Regards and best wishes,
