Black Panzer Wrap

Article about: Pics of the chevron. It appears that the inner one is from a different maker compared to the outer tress. Maybe due to a later promotion?

Buttons were machine sewn on so bear that in mind when restoring these things.

    Nice Chris!
Do you plan to do it yourself, or is it time to get the wife involved?
Unfortunately sewing is the only thing that i do my self as my wife can't help. She does the cooking etc so i don't complain
I will either do it my self or take it to a tailor lady.
Thanks Ben for the tip but unfortunately i don't have a machine.

Why does the wrap have a KVK ribbon in the button hole? I would have expected an EK ribbon.

Hi Glenn, it is not unusual. Have seen it on many tunics.

Absolutely; there were countless types of duties/assignments in which active-duty soldiers of every rank could win a KVK II: Recruitment, training, signals, transport, supply/logistics, repair/maintenance, EOD, medical, intelligence, admin/staff work etc. etc.

The EK was awarded for bravery and military leadership, and the KVK was awarded for literally every other kind of achievements/meritorious service in the interest of the war effort.

Hi Ben, the yellow braid loops will be for Kompanie designation. This was an unofficial practise used by many units, not just Panzer. Enclosed is a pic of a shoulder strap from my collection. Use of this was not exclusive to the Heer: even the British Army's 1st battl, The Border Regt did it. Just a quick and easy way to show who was who and it helped build esprit de coprs.Hi Chris, well done on your purchase!Cheers, Ade.
A practice that is still alive in the Bundeswehr ! Coloured material behind the beret badge, as those cords on the shoulder straps now signify waffenfarbe...... Stunning wrap Chris, well done on obtaining it !......had one once many moons ago !
    Prost ! Steve.
