Here is my GD shoulder strap to compare cyphers.

For me, both are no different. My knowledge on this topic is not that extensive, so I write here on the forum and learn. People here have a lot of experience and knowledge, I am glad that I can use it.

My only concern are the prongs going all the way thought the boards, I believe issue boards the prongs are inside like on my example. But I’m not 100% sure on that. It would be an easy upgrade to make postwar thus greatly increasing the value.

thank you, I think that epaulettes are a difficult topic to verify through photos.

I think with a field promotion, the soldier would attached the devices (or pips) in the easiest way they could and all the way through would be simplest.....

Danmark I agree with rank pips but unit cyphers might be a different story.

I stand corrected, looking at multiple boards with cyphers many are through the material, some appear to be trimmed back prongs, some not visible.
