Can I get opinions on this tunic? Does the insignia look original to the tunic? I would like to add some uniforms to my collection but it's definitely not my strong point. I appreciate any comments or opinions.

    Thanks, Al

Hi Aldo, those collar tabs with Waffenfarbe and backing are earlier than the tunic, so not factory applied. However, they could still be period applied as obtaining earlier insignia was very popular among the troops.

Hello Todd, thanks for the info. I really like the tunic and the early Waffenfarbe tabs but I didn't know enough to distinguish the model. The shoulder boards are slip on type but they match perfectly to the uniform material. I wonder if anything else stands out like the stitching or eagle type. I usually do more homework before I buy but this is a whole new area for me.

You're welcome. I like the tunic as well. It's what we collectors call an "M40" tunic (back then, no such term for it existed). The hand-applied breast eagle and slip on shoulder straps are appropriate for this model. The moleskin under the collar and cotton twill lining are also text book for this model.

Thanks again Todd. Unfortunately someone else snatched it while I was waffling. Onto the next project

No, I bought mine in April from TWS.
