buttons are marked by manufacturers 'Assmann & Söhne Lüdenscheid' & 'Steinhauer & Lück Lüdenscheid' look more Heer type
The markings inside the coat do not look like any wartime style that I know of.
Also a little odd that part of one stamp has been cut out..
Interested to find out what this is..
Agree with you , I’m wondering if post war with the ‘48’ stamp meaning year not size perhaps
Not an expert on mantels but the style of the pockets isn't what I've seen on military types. I'm not sure whether it might be feuerwehr related or possibly post war naval. The experts will opine soon.
Straubing is in lower Bavaria. Is it possible this is from the earlier Imperial era? Neil
The blue material and stitching on the collar also looks very similar to my example. It shares a few of the same stamps like the 5A and EX However, as I said I am no expert. I am just trying to help.
Regards
Daniel
I have only seen the EX stamp on Swiss stuff. But I haven’t seen everything so…..
Many thanks for your replies - I too now feel it’s more Swiss than German compared with other designs around etc. Have now sold the coat on as unknown
Again thank you to everyone who replied
