Panzer Tab with Wehrwolf Skull
I picked up this well worn panzer tab that has been fitted with a Wehrwolf Bund skull. You can see the outline of a larger presumably standard panzer skull on the tab. I'm assuming it's not period applied but who knows, I've seen stranger things. I'm wondering if the actual tab is original. It looks authentic and aged but I've never had one in hand to examine so I'm not sure.

Here it is compared with my other Wehrwolf skulls and traditional early tombac Panzer skulls

Hello Al, I'm not a fan of the tab itself.
I don't like the backing, even though the material looks close, it should not have so much wrinkling.
The over all construction is not consistent with any in my collection, or in the Panzer Uniform book by Scott Pritchett.
The piping is incorrect, and has just been sewn on the edge.
Here are a couple from my collection.
Hope this helps.
Ralph.
The early ones first.
Some later examples.

Hello Ralph, thank you for the analysis and photo's. The loose wrinkled backing and piping also concerned me. I bought the tab primarily for the skull so it's not a complete loss. I still managed to add a fairly rare skull to the bone pile.
