Wondering if the insignia is period and period applied
Wondering if the insignia is period and period applied
I have not seen a patch of Sonderverband 288 with a while border. Is it Bevo-made ? Difficult to make out but others are prob more experienced with this.
The eagle patch looks correctly placed at least to me.
The patch, from this fuzzy image, appears to be printed and heavily abraded (perhaps excessively, and artificially, in comparison to the tunic). It is impossible to say when it was applied, with any certainty.
In an age when it is easy for anyone to produce good, clear photographs (even if you have to have several goes at it and delete a few), I always find a poor photograph inexcusable and a red flag; as if someone is trying to hide something. It is lazy, at best.
As for the rest of the tunic, it looks fine to me. At this stage, I believe the tunic, not the badge.
Sadly, too many people cannot resist the urge to tart up a relatively plain, though honest, tunic. Nine times out of ten, the moment I read a headline featuring something from a ‘tarty’ or famous unit, alarm bells start ringing in the distance..
I look forward to hearing other opinions.
All the best,
Rob
Hello,
The sonderverband patch is a known reproduction sold on EBAY. The tabs and eagle are suspicious too.
Fred
