    Default Wehrmacht jacket fake?

    Hi Guys,

I have got this jacket and would like some more info about it.
I think this should be an M36/M40 jacket but if its original WW2 period i dont know.
I wouldnt be suprised if it is a postwar jacket.

The buttons are marked "friedrich linden, ludenscheid".

I hope the pictures give you enough information.
If more picture's are needed please let me know.

The jacket is real, a nice M40, but I think someone has messed with the lining, it looks to be re-stitched.

Could you post a photo of the front straight on.

I wouldn't have a problem with this jacket

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply!
    Good news so far.

I was/am concerned about the stitching and the buttons in the collar.
Stitching looks to new and the buttons look like they are made of plastic.

Here's a picture from the front.
If you want another picture i have to make one when i am at home in the evening.

    Gr,

    David

By the way, the kriegsverdienste kreuz wasnt on it when it was bought.
The shouldersigns/epaulets where marked as fake by other collectors i know, see attached pictures.

And at the spot the bresteagle should be there are no signs that there was a eagle sewed on it.

Yes, re-stitched collar, but when it was done is anybodies guess. It still looks to be a nice example from the pictures.

The zig zag stitching on the backside of the straps......................... does it actually join the two pieces of material, or is it there for show?

They look ok, but I have a slight niggle, and I can't put my finger on it

    Hi,

I think i know what you mean but i dont know fore sure.
The zigzag stitching looks to be for the show.
There are three stitche's (one at the top, the one between my fingers and one below) that realy connects the two peaces of material.
I have add some more picture's.

By the way, what are the things that make this jacket a (re-stitched) original in your eye's?
And do you see re-stitched jackets more often?

Hi David, sorry but I believe the whole thing is a modern reproduction.

Don't pay too much attention to buttons. Most types can still be found as "new, old stock", mint unissued. The stitching and cut of the tunic is poor.

    Cheers, Ade.

I hope you are wrong Ade.
But that was the risk when it was bought.
It looked good and the price was worth the risk.

Lots of people cant say nothing for sure so far..
