Gold flecks are the same as maker marks, they're getting better and present but the devil is in the details.
Again. Look at the stranded border and compare straightness and size.
The top is shown straight on and you can clearly see it. I told the OP this when I first saw the belt and he told me I need better glasses.
His is also not size stamped..

count and compare the stranded border on real ones vs. fakes ones.

Can't see the threads, it's either a low quality photo or i need better glasses.
do us a favor since you don't want to listen, take a high resolution photo, straight just like I did here:

also I'm willing to bet you cannot find a size stamp on the leather tongue.

I think Billys comparison photos tell the tale of this belt. Unfortunately its often the case, but its still hard to get that pre 45 quality replicated.
Bill, you are absolutely right. mine is nowhere near as straight as your example.
the hardest pill to swallow is that I have been researching this belt since I got it in an estate auction right here in WV last september. the guy that passed was a WW2 vet, that is a fact, he had a lot of memorabilia, and everything I have acquired from his estate thus far has been real, I sold a lot of his things but kept his personal uniforms and belongings, how the heck would he have acquired a fake belt?
I know the "buy the product not the story", I think that's sound advice, I just don't get it. another thing is I have yet to find a fake belt online that has gold fleks, there is a dealer that has a belt very similar to mine, same stitching, and the same gold flecks but I failed to notice the flat wire to see if it was straight. That's an hour drive away from me and I ain't about to drive back there again. simply not worth any more time invested to see if this belt is real.
Bill I do apologize for saying you were blind and needed glasses. I am going to retire this belt to a plastic bin and when I'm gone my wife will throw it along with all of my memorabilia in the trash, that will be the end of this belt's legacy. perhaps someone will pick it out of the trash heap and spend 6 months of his life researching this belt again. poor sap.
cheers
