Hi,
I recently bought this knife from what I believe is an honest military store in NE Florida. I would appreciate any information on it. I've seen many on the internet with a swastika on the handle. I've been told these are fakes because the IOC wouldn't let Germany put a swastika on an item with its symbol. Also those knives all seem to come with their "original" envelopes that look like they were printed yesterday probably because they were.
Any information or thoughts would be much appreciated.
These event day and Olympic knives were very well debunked by Jo Rivett and other sources as fakes a few years ago.
They still turn up at shows but they are very on the nose now.
If the handle is made of aluminum they are postwar junk from my perspective, and a topic that has been discussed for a number of years. The example here from a 2nd or 3rd (?) generation fake with the emblem in the grip (very popular with some dealers when the first batch was exhausted newer cheaper to make batches "miraculously" appeared. Best Regards, Fred
