    Default HJ Knife - Henckels

After posting my minty Herder and receiving great support from everyone I thought I would post this one.

    Exact opposite in condition...

    Maker is J.A. Henckels

Blade is sharpened and has a heavy patina on it.

    Swastika emblem is chipped.

Scabbard has two inner springs and is stamped L. S. on the back leather.

Any comments on the period, maker and L.S. markings are appreciated.

On another note, I pickup up this real nice quality copy a few years back with the intention of using it as I absolutely love the feel of the HJ's in the hand. But it was so nice, it made it's way into my display case. Was told it is a modern German boyscout knife.

If anyone has seen them and knows if this is true, please let me know.....

It is marked "Othello" on one side and "Anton Wingen J" other.

    Michael,

    Anywhere between 1933 - 1936, my guess would be 1934 !

    hope this helps.

Well its a knife that seen it all thats for sure
I think it dates a little younger, my guess would be 1935-36, the earliest ones have the brown strap with the 1 frontspring inside.
This scabbard isnt that type....or it has been changed with another one who will tell.
I have posted a mint example with the early 1 inside spring a while back, and ive seen exactly the same knife in Belgium also a mint example with the same scabbard.
Super catch! very Early Henckels Hj Fahrtenmesser with Motto and 100% crossgrain!
    Cheers,
