Looks correct but I think it's had a re-blued finish mid war period. The 1930's bayonets that we usually see that haven't been re-blued have very worn thin blued finish by end of war.
As you say, mismatched, but only 400 off in same series, so most likely happened at Armoury level, if not in factory.

Lovely K98 isn't it possible the bayonet wasn't actually used or is it the norm for all early pre-war bayonets to have very faded blueing by the wars end Anderson.?still a great looking K98 Bayo.....

Very nice bayonet. I am on the fence about being re-blued. Either way a very good condition item.

Very nice straight bayonet, I can see why you bought it.

See what you mean regarding the lighting etc.the blue does look lighter in the dealers images, either way it's a beautiful pre-war Bayo one of the nicest i've seen to be honest.

Thank you for the kind words! Definitely up there with the best I’ve seen (condition wise) so I was very great full I could add it to my collection

Looks like a nice S84/98, anyway missmatch and the tip is blunted, should be measured the blade lenght, about blueing on pommel is hard to say, it was refinished or not, the press button should be looked for assembly numbers, as it not copied totally the surface of pommel. But could be damaged a little by pressing on rifle slot.
