Dress bayonet with French emblem

Article about: Hi I know not the best image, would anyone know what the emblem on handle is please.. French ?? Soldier applied ?? Only photo I have presently Thanks Fraser

    The KS98 with the attached shield is certainly an early all steel type. I would agree the badge is most likely an addition from a Allied serviceman.

    The maker could be JA Henckels, Zwillingswerk, but wout details hard to confirm, question about the crest there looks like 3 roses in upper part? but it could be the town crest looks differen in 1900 around, same as the lower part is not divided with the triangle.

    A better pic of the coat or arms would help a lot.
    I am also in favour to vote for a police or feuerwehr dress bajo to a particular German town.
    And surely nothing to do with France.
    Always looking for Belgian Congo stuff!
