On the German Ordnance codes if you scroll all the way to the bottom there are other links to open up..as is on the K98 data link,, which is a Myriad of information!

Hi Busman...42 asw stands for the year of production and the maker is EF Horster company. Nice to see K98 with their frog counterpart..IMO makes it a complete rig ....Here is the link k98 bayonets data and registry

Larry C, Thanks for posting this information. I bought a K98 bayonet with metal shealth and no frog in a little shop in Pirmasens West Germany when I was in the US Army. I always wondered when it was made and by who. The only problem is finding it in all my stuff. We recently moved and my belongings are heaped in piles in the closet. Neat piles mind you but piles nevertheless.
