I wouldn't simply say that the etching or engraving could be wrong.

It is also not a bayonet but a fascine knife.

As written, this is a piece of the fire brigade. Comparison with pieces of the armed forces are not effective.

In the field of fire brigades, such an engraving is quite possible for a gift.
