Found these today at a furniture sale. Blades are not my thing, so what do you cats think? I hope at least on of them is legit. Is this particular example the fire department...arty?

...and when the portepee is on a dagger or bayonet it's called a troddel?

    many thanks

The top one is a firemen's dress bayonet. The bottom, a K98k dress bayonet. The firemen's is really nice. It has the frog and eveything. They are real. It all depends on how much you paid. These are quite common. No more than 80 for the K98k, and maybe 200 for the firemens. In all, you did quite well.

I paid 75 clams for the pair....
Break out the beers and party hats (not NSDAP hats, just your regular cone ones) I finally scored a deal.

Wow, 75 dollars. A nice price for a nice haul. I never do that well. Maybe on a pocket knife (I bought a 1940's Case knife for 5 clams) but not as well as you did.

    Very good deal! Well done.

A bayonet knot is a Troddel.

A bayonet knot with a Field-Gray leather strap and color-coded slide and crown was a Faustriemen.

A dagger knot is a Portepee.

    Cheers, Ade.
