    Question 1st Pattern Luftwaffe

    Hello everyone,

I seem to be a tad 'haunted' by all thing Alcoso of late, as a dealer I have purchased from in the past has a 1st pattern Luftwaffe dagger for sale from Alcoso!

I've had the opportunity to see this piece in person, where I took these pictures and it'd be great if I could have the forum's input as always! Unfortunately, I won't be able to get further pictures at this time.

My first impression is positive, but I do wonder if the leather on the scabbard has been replaced as it does seem bright

    Keen to hear your thoughts!

Having looked at the pictures a little more, I’m wondering whether the etched logo is perhaps a little off centre? Perhaps it’s just the angle of the photo…

    Hello Gum
The scabbard covering might have been replaced...I can not see sharper detail in your photos .
The producer logo is correct and sometimes a little off center is correct as well. It depends who was doing the etch application as this was done by hand.

There is a concern ....it looks as if the crossguard has been replaced with a later type as the swastika medallion is not solid brass as seen with the pommel Swastika.
The lower scabbard fitting appears to be aluminum.

    Parts dagger IMO .

Thanks for your time as always Larry!

This piece is going for markedly cheaper than any other 1st pattern luft I've seen and as we know, if it's too good to be true... It often is!

I think I'm trying to keep a high-level of quality in my collection, so I shall give this one a pass.

Thanks again for your time and wisdom as always!

Hi Gum.... Quality takes longer ...but well worth the wait.
There is so much junk out there that people will snap them up because of impulse.
Your direction is the right one and will have no doubts when you sleep at night.

1st Lufts are plentiful and a quality one will present itself to you in time.

    Best Larry

The problem with highly polished to dead pieces like this one, that its hard to tell what type of material you have.
Larry may well be right that its a parts dagger, but so far i can see the parts fit, but to determen it securly then you need to have it in hand.
I do like polished shoes, but stay off of my daggers
Patina clearly shows you what you have, here it all shines like hell, so not one for me.
The blade has been badly retipped, i would advice to pass on this one.
