Any thoughts?
I feel comfortable about it, but would value a more experienced opinion...
Many thanks in advance,

Hi Kohima....Im a little nervous about this hanger because of excellent reproductions that are made of the deluxe snap clip types
see this thread post # 5 > Near Perfect Luftwaffe Dagger Hanger Reproductions
I for one can not see a difference in the snap clip itself ,but take notice to the fraying and the restitching on the right side upper reverse strap.
The hardware is almost brand new compared to the worn condition of the straps....I would wait for more thoughts on this as the hardware has me at an unease.

Many thanks for your thoughts, Larry.
I know what you mean about the imperceptible differences between original and reproduction, and have developed a bit of paranoia where these things are concerned.
As for the repair, I wondered if it was, perhaps, reconstructed from original parts... there are plenty of ‘donor’ examples around, so it wouldn’t be hard to put a whole one together; just time-consuming and, probably, more expensive than buying a good one in the first place.
There is quite a bit of wear to the finish overall, with a brassy base metal showing through - which I found encouraging, as it seems quite even - but I’m still a little windy about these things!
I could do with a nail-bitey emoji at this point...

here are my 2 cents:
100% original deluxe Luft hanger.
The fittings are made of zinkbased-potmetal. like they always are with a protected surface laquer that turns into a bit of a bronze tone to it.
To my knownledge period type 2 luftwaffe dagger hanger fittings are never made of brass or messing.
Unlike the early army daggers hangers, but they were produced in 1935-36, so 1.5-2 years earlier then these luft hangers, by then it was forbidden to use brass/messing for dressdaggers.

Heres a bit of an oddity that was posted by Stevade on the GHW which originally came from the Collectorsguild...where they got the information from..Im curious as well.
So in regards to the UE RZM stamping ...which the Luftwaffe was never under the RZM authority...here is what has been written....
" The embossed RZM logo with a single, opened bottom, circular border and additional markings "U.E" indicates "Uniformeffekten Erlaubnißschein, (Uniform Accessories Licence), and the manufacturer’s numerical code, "10". It appears the combined RZM/U.E., markings were utilized circa May 1933 to March 1935 when the original controlling authority of the SA Quartermaster’s Department was converting into the RZM, Reich Zeug Meisterei, (National Equipment Quartermaster).
Manufacturers were assigned a U.E. code numeral until March 1935 when the RZM underwent restructuring and assigned manufacturers contract letters and numerical codes. There was some confusion among manufacturers as to what items fell under RZM/UE control as this example indicates. The Luftwaffe was not under the RZM’s authority. The U.E. code numerals do not correspond to the later RZM codes and no listing of the U.E. codes is known. ( End Quote )

Thank you for the advice, Gentlemen.
Unfortunately, they have sold in the meantime.

Larry C, that's almost verbatim from a post by either Wim. Saris or David North, I don't remember the thread but it was buckle related..
RZM logo and a number usually (the number) correlates with the RZM M1 codes
MA (Metall Abzeichen or Metall Ausrüstung) usually correlates with the RZM M1 codes
KH (Koppelschloss Hersteller) usually correlates (the number) with the RZM M4 codes
UE (Uniformen Effekten) usually correlates (the number) with the RZM M5 codes
This was for buckles, however RZM M5 codes are for 'Uniform Accessories'
I'd rather be A "RaD Man than a Mad Man "

Yo G thankyou for highlighting that...I checked into my RZM reference and now I see it where it states Uniform Effekten.
So now the RZMs reach goes further outside the political box and into non political accessories.
