Hi,
I recently bought these rings at a yardsale. I assume they were made after the war to sell to GI's. One is actually sterling with the appropiate hallmarks. Can anyone confirm if my hunch is correct? Thanks in advance.

Bill,
These are Post War Occupation Rings.
The ring with the lightning bolt is the 78th Infantry Division. They served in Berlin on Occupation Duty in Mid-November 1945 when they relieved the 82nd Airborne Division in Berlin. The 78th remained in Berlin until the unit was inactivated between May and June 1946.
Nice occupation period rings, sold as souvenirs by citizens trying to make ends meet after tough times. The Winter of 1945 was one of the worst for the citizens of Berlin so they had to make a living doing whatever was necessary to survive.
Smitty
Thank you very much
