It’s not cast. Look at the detailing on it, you don’t get detail like that on cast rings and as for the marks you’ve pointed out, you’ll find that’s writing. I suggest you look at the pics more carefully.
As has been asked before, please show us the writing. I have looked about as closely as I can, and I can't see any writing.
Are there any stamps on the inside?

As I say I’m open to suggestions. Most of the scratches and imperfections are writing, looks to have been possibly done with a badge pin. I can think of only two occasions when a man would have the time or inclination to graffiti a ring. Ones prison and the others the theatre of war. As for the resoldering, I presume you mean on the band. It would have been stamped out and then sized.
I think you are grasping at straws here.
This ring is like no other that I have seen relating to the TR era. The sickle is a symbol used by Russia, and I don't think Hitler would have allowed anything to utilize this symbol.
It doesn't mean that it is TR related just because it has a skull on it.
Ralph.

I've just seen this thread so sorry to be late to the discussion.
The reply above seems somewhat brusque so I do hope I mis-interpret the words!
I can only see the pics re-posted by 'Australia' which don't enlarge but to me this does look cast and you do get detail that good and far better in casting.
As for the ring itself both the metal used and the design suggest to me that this is neither an official design or even TR at all let alone SS. Many organisations / groups have used the skull and bones long before and after the TR.
Please tell us what research info you have that tends towards TR in general or SS in particular. As I say, the attachments don't work for me so you may have already posted but I would like to see large expandable images of the inside of the whole item.
Regards
Mark

Thanks for posting this, Watchdog. The attachments in Duke's post don‘t work for me either. In fact, the attachments in other of his posts either don't work any longer or have been removed altogether, which is strange. I wondered if they had been edited out. If so, why? Regardless, I don‘t believe that this ring has anything to do with the Third Reich or Germany.

To the thread starter,
If you do not restore the photos to this thread, you will face a permanent ban from this forum.
Without the photos, this thread becomes a useless waste of bandwidth, and is useless for collectors as a future reference.
This is also why we do not allow the use of outside photo hosting sites.

It isn't just this thread, Ralph, as noted above. The posts in the links below have also lost content. Very curious:

Thanks Stephen,
I thought it was just me. However, I now suspect that my original "gut feeling" which I supressed in the spirit of fairness is vindicated. It goes without saying that I agree 100% about the ring
