When I see these fez's (fezzes?) for sale without insignia, I feel pity for the item. Not enjoyed for what it is, but used to beef up something else.
You made the right choice! A nice purchase.
I have seen several of the stripped ones being rebadged with Police insignia.

Not sure if this is the right thread for it but I wanted to post it nonetheless. HH has a rare green fez for sale, worn by auxiliary gendarmes.
These are the exact same green Fez's than the Waffen-SS but then with a BEVO Polizei insignia.
If anyone has the money and the right collecting interest, this will not dissapoint.
