Gentlemen, this hat is from one of the major scammers, would our hat experts please review this and pass on your thoughts on authenticity/verdict please. Once again, thank you in advance.
The key will be the insignia and the way its attached- if the insignia is fake, that cap will be too! Unfortunately this kind of wartime insignia is not in my wheelhouse, so you'll have to wait for someone else to inform you on that...
Thank you Arran for your input. From the investigating using SS uniform books, that insignia was used later part of the war. I look forward to other members weighing in on the subject. Once again, thank you for your help.

Thanks MAP, on closer inspection there is some similarities with the stitching, and if you can believe the story it was from a batch of unissued caps at Dachau open liberation. Interestingly, I did find some documentation on the "Dachau" caps. I will have to call this one sitting on the fence at this stage. Many thanks team.
After some research I'm going to say that the insignia and hat are bad- the form of the eagle and skull are unlike any of the originals I've found to compare to...
