Danish SS items via David Delich

Article about: by helmetone The material that makes up the uniforms has the appearance of being very coarse in texture, is that the case? Yes, no, maybe?

Amazing and rare items, I didn't find a lot over the years - it has always been difficult. The cap metal insignia is not rare - it's and old Danish army button and a wreath previously used by the Danish civilian ambulance service, this combination was used by the Danish HIPO Korps in late 1944 onwards.

    Schalburg korps.

What happened to the flags? Here is one on a truck driven by some Danish resistance fighters immediately after the German surrender in 1945.

Here is the Schalburg korps tunic I owned 15 years ago. Shoulder board pips, collar tabs and cuff title was missing.
It belonged to T.I.P.O Madsen the last commander of the Schalburg korps from October 1944. He was rightfully fearing for his life in Denmark and volunteered for front duty, but too late and he was liquidated on a Copenhagen street 22 January 1945 wearing civilian clothes.

Some rare items still turn up. K.B.Martinsen, previous commander of Freikorps Danmark and the Schalburg Korps, wrote a book in 1944 about the battles of Freikorps Danmark. It was printed, but almost the entire edition was sabotaged and burned by the Danish resistance, so it was never published. A handful were liberated by the resistance fighters and I was lucky to buy an example from the son of one of the guys involved in the sabotage, his father is on the left side of the photo.
