Hi Mike, this type should not have a air vent grommet. However, it is a modern fake.
This makers stamp is much favoured by the German firm of "Janke" who make fake caps. Be wary of any cap with this mark.
I have shown my original on the forum in the past. But here it is again. Note in particular the construction of the crown seams. This is a well used example.
Cheers, Ade.
Ade,
I did research this for about 2 hours today and thought the price was way too low. boy this looks good but as you have shown no SOUTAGE. Should this hat always have a SOUTAGE?
thnaks mike k
These caps sell at around £2,500/$3750.
They originally were issued with a Soutach, but later issues had no soutach.
Cheers, Ade.
K H Flauder was an original maker of overseas caps, but the firma Michael Janke has made fake stamps to mark their reproductions.
Illustrated is an original K H Flauder overseas cap for Luftwaffe forces.
