Incredible that you found an eagle with the same patina as your TK. Really nice match you have there. Must have been a sweat to swap it over
I like the other visor more, but that has probably got to do with the shape it holds. Nice display!

You have no idea how nerve wracking it was to swap the insignia. It felt like I was defusing a bomb. Then to make matters worse after I finished, the chinstrap broke off because it was so dry and brittle. I managed to secure it with a small strip of double sided adhesive not visible. I do have to be more careful with this one because it is fragile.
The other cap is like brand new with no issues whatsoever.
My First SS Black-top EM/NCO Visor
Here I go again. Nearly two years later I've decided to change the insignia again to better reflect a black visor of this epoch. Generally speaking the shiny variety vs the zinc type. Although the cupal versions I've removed are appropriate they have been ravaged by time. Although the natural worn look is desirable I opted for the newer less marred look. I had such nice results with my Sonder cap by Mueller that I thought I'd repeat the performance. Besides nothing is irreversible so I can always revert back to the previous look if I choose too.
SS Black Visor by August Mueller
I chose a very nice unmarked so called "attributed to Deschler" TK that some collectors dislike. I however feel they are 100% authentic and have no qualms using one on my cap. I paired it with another beautiful SS rzm marked 155/36 by Assmann with a spectacular finish. I managed to score two of those a few years ago for a pittance before the SS market went hog wild.
The most difficult part of photography is capturing the shiny badges in detail. They generally reflect too much light and appear blurry. Only the macro shots of the loose insignia properly reflect the finish. Nonetheless here is the result.

Aldo, if you don't know what to do with the original insignas, I'm your man ....
