I have a SS Smock which I'm reasonably sure isn't genuine.
Are there maker's marks to help guide me to a decision?
Thank you, Mart.

Definitely a reproduction by the look of the print and new looking material

Thank you Aldo.
I'm not doing too well here.
Mart.
Hello Mart, it's hard to explain this hobby but it takes a lot of time and exposure to items to get a better feel for what is good. There are many levels of reproductions, these are basic and easy to spot but there are also high end reproductions that take a lot of experience. Just keep posting your finds before you commit to buying anything. Good luck.

Hi Al,
Thank you for the advice.
I'm glad that after I've attempted to show due diligence I'm able to get
a final opinion, before buying an object, from the Forum members-and
learn from the experience.
Regards, Mart.
Mart, if you don't know, don't buy. It's easy to spend money, far harder to get it back.
If you're just starting out in the hobby, remember the saying about if it's too good to be true? That applies to collecting militaria.
Keep doing what you're doing and post things before purchasing but also use the search function and look at threads about potential purchases.
If you're want to collect SS, be prepared to spend big, do an awful lot of research and see a lot of fake items. It's not an area for beginner collectors. If you head in that direction, you will lose money.
Identify an area you are interested in and become good in that area, know what you want to collect and study.
A lot of the fun and reward is the study of your chosen field.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Hi Adrian,
Yes I totally agree. I was the chap that asked your opinion on the NSKK Pilot and later SA helmet.
To that end I now have a NSKK wall plaque.
I enjoyed collecting info about its history so think I'll concentrate on that particular
topic instead of being all over the show with medals and badges of every kind.
Thank you, Mart.
Hi Ade,
I'm not sure this will arrive but I've pressed something that allowed me
to attach stuff.
You'll see it's in good condition overall. I saw a few on Ebay recently in
in awful state, and without the silver NSKK badge, for silly money.
I appreciate your help.
Regards, Mart.
