    Default SS-Totenkopfverbände "K" Tab

Hey Folks, I just received this in the mail yesterday from a dealer out of England. I’ve searched everywhere for other examples and found only two other reliable references online, one from Delich’s collection and the other from German Daggers. On both of those, the top and bottoms of the “K” is turned up more stylistically (and with more of an angle). I’m not sure if the one I received represents an acceptable variation and would appreciate your expert opinions. Thanks in advance.

Unless I am mistaken, the 'K' tab was only for enlisted men and NCOs.

Your 'K' tab has officer piping.

Thanks Robin. I was thinking about that too. I was scouring the recently published, "Insignia of the SS-Totenkopfverbände 1933-1939" by D. Chapman (pp 23) last night and it confirms what you have suggested (unpiped or striped piping for EM/NCO's -That was on the back of my mind when I ordered the tab, but I dismissed it thinking I was wrong).

That would be correct if the tab was for the SS-TV camp staff, however if the patch with a letter "K'" was being worn by members of the Kdtr. SS-Uebungslager Dachau it was for both men and officers.
That is, if it was genuine.

Thanks for the clarification, d'alquen. Is your assessment that it is not genuine? I'd rather not live in fantasyland if it isn't : )

I should perhaps add that this was provenance offered: "It has been consigned in, along with other SS insignia, from a collection in Europe."

Haha Robin, I'm still chuckling at "I stand korrekted !!" Love it!
