SS-VT Overseas cap
I just bought this stripped down SS-VT cap with the intention of restoring it to it's former state. The cap is a first pattern SS-VT Feldmütze with white soutache for Infantry. The gray wool is heavily worn but completely intact. The outline of the machine embroidered eagle triangle that was removed is clear. The interior looks like an earthen gray with remnants of the rzm label and and owners initials on a separate label. The button is of course missing but easily replaced. The eagle will prove much harder to find. I'll let the photo's do the rest of the talking. All opinions and comments are welcome.

Another fine restoring project! I'm curious to see how it looks when it's finished and shines in its old glory!

Very good purchase and at a great price. It looks good in daylight. I was thinking about scooping this one up myself. Good luck with finding the eagle

Thanks Vocht ! I know these are heavily faked but I believe it's a good one based on the material and construction. A very decent price from a trusted dealer helped seal the deal for me. It also compares favorably with images in the Beaver book about SS headgear. These things are always a minefield but we become adept at tiptoeing through the boobytraps.
Here is a link for another similar cap with the same textured wool and colors.

Thanks to one of our esteemed forum members I was able to locate a nice uniform removed eagle to restore on my cap. These are extremely hard to find and I'm grateful it only took a few months. Having already restored the TK button, I now have the last piece of the puzzle. Here are some preliminary pictures of the cap and loose insignia. I'll post the cap soon once I've properly sewn on the eagle.

Thanks Paul, I'm so happy to have found it. These SS-VT caps with a soutache are fairly rare and I couldn't have afforded one if I had bought it complete.
